My great grandfather Otto Tympel (1874-1957) in 1914. He and his family arrived in Leipzig around 1900. He had been working as a stone mason in Dresden until then. Because of his Trade Union activity and his support for the SPD he could not find work in Dresden. He, his wife Hedwig and their three daughters: Ida, Gertrud and Flora moved to Leipzig. Ida was to become my grandmother later on. She had two children, Gisela, my mother, and Werner, later to be killed in Russia as a twenty-year old in a tank in 1942 or 1943.

This is me,(Hans Hoffbauer), in the 1980s. I have matured somewhat since then!
